Automotive Service and Repair Articles For Your Information
Myth 5 - The dealership has factory trained technicians and equipment so they know how to repair my vehicle best.
Fact: There are great technicians at dealerships, and there are a lot of great technicians at independent shops. Not all technicians at dealers are factory trained master technicians. Our certifications and credentials are on display in our office and on the Apex website. Next time you are at any dealer or independent, ask to see your mechanics' credentials. It is true that the dealers have factory tools and information, but most if not all of it is available to the aftermarket (google Right to Repair Bill). Further to this point, dealer technicians are tied down to factory diagnostic procedures and techniques that don’t account for all real world situations i.e., intermittent failures. Evidence of this is shown in the many stories I have heard over the years which many people can relate to: “I have had my car to the dealer 4 times and they can’t find the problem!” Aftermarket companies realize these shortcomings and offer many powerful diagnostic tools. Apex uses these tools in conjunction with highly specialized aftermarket training that allows us to go far above and beyond factory diagnostic procedures.
